Dental Restorations
Dental Restorations are defined use of an artificial material to restore the function and form (shape) of missing tooth structure/material. The tooth material could have been missing all along, lost to caries (tooth decay), chemical erosion, physical wear and cracking or intentionally removed as part of treatment.
We treat this is as distinct from Oral Prosthetic Rehabilitation or Restoration which involves replacing missing teeth, gum tissue and the surrounding bone and soft tissue although there are significant similarities in the types of procedures involved.
Dental restorations are broadly divided into Direct Dental Restorations and Indirect Dental Restorations

Crown
We generally use fully ceramic crowns in our clinic as these are translucent providing a much more natural appearance and a higher probability of detecting future potential tooth decay at the margins and under the crowns.(find out more about crowns)
We surface treat and bond all our crowns to the teeth to give your tooth the maximum protection and strength.
Fee range : $800-1200 per tooth depending on material and complexity

Fixed Partial Denture (Dental Bridge)
A dental bridge is usually an artificial tooth / teeth which rests on the gum and is supported by the neighbouring tooth / teeth. There are various designs and materials which make it difficult to be precise about the fees but generally fees are similar to crowns on a per tooth basis.
Direct restorations (ie Dental Fillings)
When your tooth develops a cavity (hole/tooth decay) a filling is almost always required to deal with the problem. Teeth do not heal the way bone or skin does when it is injured and so defects in teeth need to be filled so that they do not trap food and bacteria which will cause further damage.
In our clinic we use 2 basic types of material - composite resin and Glass ionomer cement. Both are tooth coloured and bond to the tooth structure providing a better seal against bacteria invasion. We do not use Silver-Mercury amalgam at all in our clinic for environmental reasons. Amalgam has been banned in the European Union for several years and we benchmark against EU standards.
Fee range : $60-150 depending on size and complexity

Veneers
Direct veneers - are constructed from Composite Resin and can be placed in a single visit. They tarnish and chip more easily than ceramic veneers but are easier to repair and replace.
Ceramic veneers - are constructed from ceramic and require 2 visits to complete. They are much more stain and chip resistant than composite resin but are more difficult to repair if they are damaged. Fee per tooth $500-800 depending on number of teeth involved and material
