More complex treatment
Patients with gum problems may require treatment to properly resolve the issue. In a majority of cases, deep scaling and root planing is sufficient, but in some cases, gum surgery may be required.
Fluoride Therapy
In office Therapy
Patients who have had some weakening of the enamel either by erosion, tooth decay which has not yet become a cavity or a hole in the tooth can benefit from this treatment, which seeks to re-harden the enamel by applying very high doses of fluoride directly to the affected area.
Intensive Take Home Therapy
This is usually reserved for patients who, because of defects in the enamel, saliva or other factors, are at high risk of tooth decay and breakdown of the teeth by bacteria. The fluoride hardens the enamel and other components of the gel reduce the level of acidity on the surface of the teeth.
Patients who suffer chronic sensitivity of the teeth can also benefit from this treatment, which involves making a close fitting transparent tray to hold the treatment gel against the teeth and minimize wastage.
