Damage Limitation and Mitigation
Almost all emergency dental treatment is intended to achieve 2 immediate aims:
The objective is to facilitate repair and restoration of the affected teeth later on. Because of practical constraints like limitations of time and the presence of conditions like inflammation, swelling or bleeding it is often not possible to carry out definitive treatment straight away. That does not mean that definitive treatment is not important. It is vital and, in the case of infections, could prevent a recurrence of the emergency situation.

- limit and mitigate damage to dental structures
